OTFC IV vs Old Sedcopians V (H)

27th January 2018

OTFC IVs 2 - 2 Old Sedcopians V

OTFC IVs 2 – 2 Old Sedcopians V

Tiffs went into the game on the back of three consecutive defeats. A number of absences meant some improvised changes in midfield.

In the first quarter of the game Tiffs were the stronger team but Sedcopians physical strength started to tell as the half progressed on a rapidly deteriorating and muddy pitch. The score was goalless at half time but Tiffs fancied their chances in the second half kicking down the slope and with the wind.

Tiffs got their noses in front when Z. Akdeniz expertly slotted home following an assist from W.Bishop. Tiff’s lead was doubled when S. Dyer, out ran the Sedcopians defence after being put through by S.Newby.

10 minutes later Sedcopians were awarded a penalty but, fortunately for Tiffs, it was lifted over the bar. This let off was short lived, however, when the Sedcopian player who missed the penalty scored a fine goal from the edge of the penalty area. Straight from the restart the same player capitalised on mistakes in the Tiffs defence and drew the scores level. Tiffs were left shell-shocked.

A draw was probably a fair result and stopped the run of defeats, but Tiffs were left slightly disappointed they couldn’t hold on for all three points. They will be seeking to put this right in their next league game away against Old Whitgiftians.
