George Best famously said, “I spent 90 percent of my money on women, drinking and fast cars. The rest I wasted”.  Ignore the fast cars bit and you get a fair idea of a typical Friday night out for Tiffs 4s.  Some were more worse for wear than others but thankfully everyone made it to Saturday’s game in Guilford.

After some hanging around in the changing rooms because the person with the kit had been putting a bet on, Tiffs made the long walk to the pitch perched high on a hill.

Tiffs started well and went into a two-nil lead.  Both goals involved Stevie Dwyer and Zeki Akdeniz linking up well to exploit Guilford’s high defensive line.  Guilford pulled one back with a long range effort before Tiffs scored two more through Marc Edees, his first goal for the club, and James Khajenouri, a fine solo effort.

In the second half Tiffs defended strongly – Christian Proctor, Euan Shields and Ben Harrison (making his Tiffs debut) were particularly impressive.  A goal on the counter attack, Dan Peake setting up Akdeniz for his hatrick, made it 5-1 to Tiffs and they could have scored more in the closing stages.

The post game de-brief was over sausage and mash back in the clubhouse.   As expected given the Friday night shenanigans, there was a big haul for the fines committee.
