OTFC IIs v Old Tenisonians III (A)

26th November 2016

Old Tenisonians III 5 - 2 OTFC IIs

The team arrived at AFC Wimbledon ladies FC excited to get dribbling and banging their balls into the back of the net. The 2016-17 away kit designed by internationally renowned fashion designer come football tinker man Hugo Bosstelman was ready for its second outing and second chance after a defeat in its debut. The scene was set with Tom Nichols arriving to collect his lateness fine for reasons unknown.

The boys were keen to get a good start and an intense warm up enabled them to start brightly, dominating possession in the first 15. Dicky, Andy, Mitch and Ben all holding their own in defence.

Young Josh, earning his first cap, showed raw ability with excellent distribution and the tiffs were linking up well with a number of attacks coming down the flanks in the form of Steven Avery, Ben Lamble, Joe Sammarco and le Mitch. Tommo was busying himself up front and managed to get a few strikes in.

The tables were turned when Tenisonians managed to break with pace down the tiffs right flank with the striker deftly slotting home. 1-0 to the home team. A second followed shortly after with what can only be described as a fluky strike into the top corner from outside the box.

Luke Peake, in his normal enforcement role buoying the midfield was brought off, which he took with usual grace. Brexiteer Benedikt put himself about with aplomb.

Tiffinians stepped up a gear to earn a momentum shifting goal just before half time. Avery broke down the left, feeding a hungry Tommo who rolled it to Sammarco to round the keeper. Bosh .

With heads up, tiffs resumed the match in good fashion with Ollie putting on the midfield generals uniform and Will shuffling elegantly across the field. A lapse in concentration, for half an hour, put pay to tiffs efforts and they were once again down, this time 5-1.

What came next was a piece of pure magic. They say that 70% of communication is non-verbal. Luke and Wills deep mystical bond allows them to communicate through contact with the football. Will silently delivered the ball to Luke who stealthily snuck his ball under the keepers flailing grasp.

MOTM went to Ben for his efforts, pushing down the left faster than Jeremy Corbyn. For readers keen to see more of him, Ben will be returning to the 4s once more.

Dignity salvaged and the title chase continues for tiffs. With the ritual burning of the away kit coming up, surely nothing can stop the push for promotion.
