OTFC 4s welcomed Old Whitgiftian 2s to Grists for the second league game of the season. The matches between Tiffs and Old Whitgifts last season were close and hard fought and Tiffs knew the game would be a tough one.

Old Whigift probably had the better of the opening moments and Tiffs had keeper Nader Meraj to thank for some good early saves – one spectacular full-blooded volley off his own line in particular.

Just before the break Tom Flynndinho went on one of his trademark bursting runs down the left, drew the keeper and fired into the bottom corner to give Tiffs the lead. It was 1-0 to Tiffs at half time.

In the second half there was more pressure from Old Whigifts but Tiffs put in battling performances all over the pitch to keep them at bay. The pick of these were full backs Jez Eggar and Marian Vrabiescu who worked tirelessly thwarting the threat down the wings.

The second goal came from Wesley Bishop making his Tiffs debut. He pounced following a scramble in the Old Whigift six yard box to seal the points for Tiffs.

MOTMs: Jeremy Eggar and Marian Vrabie.
